You should see a schematic of the Littlefield Technologies factory to the right. Prior to beginning the simulation, students will have received a handout named "Littlefield Technologies -- Overview" that describes the simulator and a shorter handout describing the details of the first assignment.
As explained in the handouts, Littlefield Technologies is a make-to-order producer of digital satellite receivers. Customer orders arrive randomly, but with a mean that evolves in a way described in the assignment. Orders are matched with kits in raw materials inventory and then go through a four-step process on three machines as shown in the schematic.
